business newsQueens' Garden Party CancelledTuesday, 5 June 2007 Due to disappointing early ticket sales for the charity fundraising Queens' Garden Party at Stanmer House, the party set for Saturday 9th June has now been cancelled. Brighton's scene loses what was set to be a memorable, glitzy summer party. Aeon Events, the promotion team behind Wild Fruit and organisers of this event, said: "We are always interested in bringing a wide and varied array of special events to the public which we feel adds colour and variety to the Brighton scene and we will continue to arrange similar unique parties in the future. Events such as The Queens Garden Party are very high budget ventures with a high degree of risk attached and whilst our last party at Stanmer House was a resounding success from a public point of view it ran at a considerable loss, having said that we still donated money to our chosen good cause. It is unfortunate that on this occasion we will not be able to help raise essential funds for Spectrum but we do hope to be able to show our support for this worthy cause in the future and we will of course keep planning special events including Pride events and plenty of surprises!" It is without a doubt a disappointment to the event promoters who are now left cancelling acts, DJs, catering, equipment and venue hire. Organisers of events such as this one must be left wondering if Brighton clubbers are willing to get behind big parties if it means having to pay a little extra. Aeon events have asked us to pass on their thanks to those that did buy their tickets early, and they have offered their assurance that everyone will receive a full refund. your commentssaid anonymously Aeon Events replies: |

Hm, shame, was thinking about going but then, I'm not sure the location and the somewhat cliquey nature of these parties suits Brighton clubbers. The guys at Aeon make such wonderful efforts for Wild Fruit and Monkey and really do us proud at Pride but perhaps this is just a little bit too ambitious?
